Science Ambassadors @ Locarno Film Festival
Ten days. 200+ international talents. Science meets cinema.
Since 2019, Art of Molecule has invited outstanding young scientists at PhD and postdoctoral level to join the Locarno Film Festival as Science Ambassadors. For ten intense days, they become part of the festival’s BaseCamp — a vibrant international community bringing together more than 200 emerging filmmakers, artists and audiovisual talents from around the world. The idea is simple: take scientists out of their familiar academic environment and bring them into a space where different languages, perspectives and ways of seeing the world collide.
Through films, conversations, workshops and spontaneous encounters, the Science Ambassadors explore new ways of communicating science, learn to engage with audiences beyond academia and build connections across disciplines, cultures and countries. What began as an experiment in 2019 has grown into one of Art of Molecule’s most dynamic formats for art–science dialogue and public engagement.
